Well, it's been 10 days since we decided to close the backyard for the winter season. While these times are difficult, we've taken some time to collect our thoughts. It's the perfect time to reflect on all of the positives that have come from our 2020 experience. Without sounding too cornball, here goes:
Thank you to our amazing staff, Today, as we wait for the day we can welcome you back to the Inner Town, we can not downplay the effort and love Brandon and Alja have shown this year. Our little corner bar, and her 1890 bones have never been more beautiful. Their painstaking work to make her more welcoming and warm makes us so excited for the future. The herculean effort to convert our back yard into a community meeting place whilst also contending with the Covid protocols was amazing. We had just over 3 months, and it was a resounding success. Olivia, Sean, Drew, Jimmy, Johnny and so many others helped along the way, and we cant wait to see you all back slinging drinks and checking ID's in 2021.
We take pride in our relationship with the East Village community. The love and support shown by our loyal customers and our neighbors reminds us why we do it. THANK YOU! 40 years is a long road, and there have been bumps along the way, but it is the relationships with our customers and community that makes it all worth it.
The Inner Town team is looking forward to the day we can welcome you back, and to be sure, that day will come! That hug we want to give you may have to come in the form of a shot of Malört (social distancing blows!), but the laughs and good times are right around the corner.
Till we see you again, have a wonderful Thanksgiving and happy holiday season. Remember to support small business when you can. Reach out to a friends, Listen to LPs. Embrace art. And... if you are going to see family over this holiday season, remember: Be Nice or Leave!
HOME TO THE ARTS
The Inner Town Pub, Home of the Arts, has been a West Town / Ukrainian Village institution for 35+ years. Its history in the neighborhood goes back to the days of Prohibition, the ITP came into its own during late 80’s early 90’s, becoming a home for the local bohemian artist community. Walking into the ITP, you will be welcomed by the dimly lit, eclectic space with artwork and knick knacks that you would find in your crazy uncle’s basement, with a special affinity to Elvis. Time stands still here, but you can always count on our friendly staff, laid back bar flies, cheap drinks, great music on the jukebox and free pool.
